Camshia Combination Tablets HD for hypertension (candesartan, amlodipine)
What are Camshia Combination Tablets HD for hypertension?
Camshia tablets, a combination medication containing candesartan cilexetil and amlodipine besilate, are widely prescribed for the management of hypertension, a common cardiovascular condition. Camshia Combination Tablets HD contain a higher dosage of active principles, 8 mg of candesartan cilexetil and 5 mg of amlodipine in each tablet.
Candesartan cilexetil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that acts by blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its receptors, resulting in vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. It primarily affects the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), leading to decreased vasoconstriction and reduced sodium and water retention, thereby lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine besilate, on the other hand, is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to relaxation of the arterial walls and subsequent vasodilation.
Combining candesartan cilexetil and amlodipine besilate in Camshia tablets provides a synergistic effect in reducing blood pressure. This dual action targets both the RAAS and calcium-mediated vasoconstriction pathways, enhancing their individual antihypertensive effects. The result is a more comprehensive reduction in blood pressure levels.
The effectiveness of Camshia tablets in managing hypertension has been well-documented in clinical trials and real-world settings. Patients with hypertension who are prescribed Camshia tablets often experience significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, bringing their values within the recommended target range.
