Glanatec ophthalmic solution 0.4% eye drops (glaucoma Ripasudil, Rho kinase)
What is Glanatec ophthalmic solution for the treatment of glaucoma?
Glanatec ophthalmic solution by Japanese maker Kowa Pharmaceutical is widely used for the supportive treatment of glaucoma and the reduction of eye hypertension (intraocular pressure). This medicine was certified and launched for sale in December 2014 in Japan after full-scale clinical studies. The brand name of the product is Glanatec and the generic name is ripasudil chloride hydrate.
This medicine works by inhibiting Rho kinase, an enzyme affecting proteins that are significant in the contractile control of smooth muscle tissue. As the result, Glanatec eye drops stimulate the movement of aqueous humour from the ciliary body away from the eye and reduce intraocular pressure.
