Xyzal tablets 5 mg for allergy (levocetirizine hydrochloride, antihistamine)
What are Xyzal tablets 5 mg for allergy (levocetirizine, antihistamine)?
Xyzal tablets are formulated with levocetirizine hydrochloride, classified as a third-generation antihistamine. This medication operates by enhancing its antagonistic effect on the histamine H1 receptor, effectively alleviating symptoms associated with allergies, such as runny noses, sneezing, and redness.
These tablets are versatile and can be employed to manage various allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis, hives (including cases of long-term hives with uncertain origins), eczema, dermatitis, prurigo, and cutaneous pruritus. Notably, levocetirizine hydrochloride is distinguished by its minimal sedative impact on the central nervous system, making it less likely to induce drowsiness compared to other antihistamines. Scientific investigations have also established that it does not substantially prolong the QT interval, further endorsing its favorable cardiac safety profile.
