Thyronamin tablets 25 mcg for hypothyroidism, thyroiditis and goiter (liothyronine sodium, Cytometol, Tertroxin)
What are Thyronamin tablets 25 mcg for hypothyroidism, thyroiditis and goiter (liothyronine sodium, Cytometol, Tertroxin)?
Thyronamin tablets comprise liothyronine salt, a sodium-bound variant of liothyronine. This compound is an artificial rendition of the levorotatory isomer found in the natural thyroid hormone triiodothyronine. Its mechanism involves binding to nuclear thyroid receptors, which then attach to thyroid hormone response elements within target genes. This, in turn, stimulates gene expression and subsequently contributes to the enhancement of basal metabolism.
The utility of Thyronamin tablets extends to the treatment of hypothyroidism, thyroiditis, and goiter, particularly in cases involving hypothyroid coma. The pivotal component, liothyronine sodium, exhibits greater potency compared to levothyroxine, boasting a swifter onset and a briefer duration of action. This attribute renders it particularly effective in the management of myxedema coma.
