Termed the ONTARGET trial, this extensive research involved a cohort of over 25,000 patients and conducted a comparative analysis of telmisartan, ramipril, and a combination of both medications regarding their impact on cardiovascular events, including heart attacks and strokes. The findings demonstrated that telmisartan exhibited non-inferiority to ramipril in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events, displaying a notable level of effectiveness. Furthermore, the combination of both medications did not yield any additional therapeutic benefits when compared to telmisartan as a monotherapy.

How to take

Adults should take 1 tablet (40 mg of the active principle) at a time, once a day. Start with 20 mg of the active principle a day, and then the dose may be gradually increased. Your doctor may adjust the dosage according to your age or symptoms. However, the maximum daily dose of 2 tablets (80 mg) should not be exceeded. 

This medicine contains 40 mg of the active ingredient in 1 tablet. 

As this medicine is affected by foods, patient should always take the tablets at regular dosing schedule, either each time before every meal or after every meal.

Contraindications: do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with hepatic disorder or diabetes mellitus.

As this medicine may cause dizziness, patient should pay close attention when driving a car, operating dangerous machinery or working at heights.
