Sitafloxacin tablets 50 mg (Gracevit, antibiotics, quinolone)
What are Sitafloxacin Tablets 50 mg (Gracevit, antibiotics, quinolone)?
Sitafloxacin, a modern-generation broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic, functions by disrupting bacterial DNA replication, serving as an effective mechanism to impede bacterial growth.
Its versatility is notable, making it suitable for addressing an array of bacterial infections like cervicitis, respiratory tract infections, and otolaryngological infections. This adaptability arises from its capacity to inhibit DNA replication in bacterial cells.
A comprehensive understanding of sitafloxacin's clinical attributes was derived from ten clinical trials involving 1,059 participants. The focus was on assessing the medicine's safety profile in clinical settings.
Sitafloxacin's antimicrobial effects are extensive, targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as anaerobic clinical isolates. It is particularly active against strains resistant to other fluoroquinolones, such as methicillin-resistant staphylococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and other streptococci displaying reduced susceptibility to conventional quinolones like levofloxacin.
Sitafloxacin's effectiveness extends to challenging isolates like Klebsiella pneumoniae. It maintains its potency against a noteworthy percentage of these strains, even those generating extended-spectrum beta-lactamases that render them unresponsive to other antibiotics like ciprofloxacin. Additionally, sitafloxacin demonstrates activity against Enterobacter Cloacae and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, with some efficacy against quinolone-resistant strains.
