Propecia tablets 1 mg for male androgenetic alopecia
What are Propecia tablets 1 mg for alopecia and prostatic hyperplasia?
Propecia tablets are specifically formulated to address male androgenetic hair loss, commonly known as male-pattern baldness. These tablets have shown notable effectiveness in not only delaying the progression of hair loss but also potentially reversing the condition in men of all ages. The primary underlying cause of male-pattern baldness is an excessive presence of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone derived from testosterone. DHT binds to androgen receptors in the hair follicles, leading to their gradual miniaturization, shortening the hair growth cycle, and ultimately resulting in hair thinning and loss.
An active principle of Propecia tablets is finasteride, a type II 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. It acts by interfering with the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into DHT. By reducing the production of DHT, Propecia tablets help to interrupt the hair follicle miniaturization process, allowing the hair to grow thicker and healthier. Studies showed that, after a period of six months of continuous use, finasteride has demonstrated the ability to reverse hair loss in up to 30% of individuals, leading to visible improvements in hair density and thickness. The response to Propecia treatment may vary among individuals. While some may experience significant regrowth, others may observe a stabilization of hair loss or a slower rate of progression. Early initiation of treatment is generally recommended.
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is also responsible for the prostate enlargement. Since finasteride reduces DHT amount, Propecia tablets are effective for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Studies have shown that finasteride can significantly improve urinary symptoms associated with BPH, such as urinary frequency, urgency, and weak urine flow.
