What are Pregabalin capsules 75 mg for neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia?

Pregabalin is a medication primarily indicated for the management of neuropathic pain and pain associated with fibromyalgia. Its mechanism of action is centered on modulating the release of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, particularly by binding to the alpha2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. This binding inhibits the presynaptic release of excitatory neurotransmitters, such as glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P. By doing so, pregabalin reduces the abnormal neuronal excitability and hyperactivity that often underlie neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia. The effectiveness of pregabalin in alleviating neuropathic pain has been well-documented in numerous clinical trials. It has shown significant efficacy in conditions such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and spinal cord injury-related neuropathic pain.

How to take

Neuropathic pain: adults should take 1 capsule (75 mg of the active principle) at a time, 2 times a day, as an initial dose. After a week or more of this regimen, the daily dosage may be gradually increased up to 300 mg a day. Your doctor should adjust the dosage according to your age and symptoms. However, the maximum daily dosage of 600 mg in two divided doses should not be exceeded.

Pain associated with fibromyalgia: adults should take 1 capsule (75 mg of the active principle) at a time, 2 times a day, as an initial dose. After a week or more of this regimen, the daily dosage may be gradually increased up to 300 to 450 mg. Your doctor should adjust the dosage according to your age and symptoms. However, the maximum daily dosage of 450 mg in two divided doses should not be exceeded.

Please note that this preparation contains 75 mg of the active principle in 1 capsule. 

Contraindications: do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women. 

Important information

• As this medicine may cause dizziness or somnolence, patient should avoid operating dangerous machinery, working at heights or driving a car.
• Elderly patients should pay especially close attention to prevent falling and fracture due to these symptoms.
• If you notice any signs of unexpected weight gain, double vision or blurred vision, consult with your doctor.
• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine. 

If an allergic reaction occurs, patient needs to stop using the medicine and consult with their doctor. If patient is taking any other medication or treatment, they should consult with their doctor in advance.
