Pamoxan pinworms medicine (threadworms, seatworms, Viprinium)
What are Pamoxan tablets for pinworms (threadworms, seatworms, Viprinium)?
Pamoxan is the most commonly used medicine against pinworms in Japan. Its active principle is pyrvinium, a quinoline-derived cyanine dye and an mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation inhibitor, with anthelmintic properties. It works by inhibiting mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation and respiration and decreases mitochondrial function of the pinworms. Pamoxan is not absorbed into the GIT, making it safe and well-tolerated, suitable for children from 5 years old.
