What are Pamoxan tablets for pinworms (threadworms, seatworms, Viprinium)?
Pamoxan is the most commonly used medicine against pinworms in Japan. Its active principle is pyrvinium, a quinoline-derived cyanine dye and an mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation inhibitor, with anthelmintic properties. It works by inhibiting mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation and respiration and decreases mitochondrial function of the pinworms.
