What are Montelukast tablets 10 mg for asthma and rhinitis (montelukast sodium, Singulair)?
Montelukast sodium is an antagonist of the leukotriene receptor. It works by blocking the action of leukotriene D4 within the lungs, decreasing inflammation, and relaxing the smooth muscles. Montelukast tablets provide the following effects:
- help to control the contraction of the bronchi,
- help to control nasal ventilation resistance,
- reduce nasal obstruction, nasal discharge, and sneezing symptoms,
- help to prevent the asthma attacks and to reduce their frequency.
Montelukast tablets are effective for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma. However, this medicine is not designed for the immediate relieve of asthma attack.

How to take
For bronchial asthma: adults should take one tablet (10 mg of principle) once a day, before bedtime.
For allergic rhinitis: adults should take 0.5-1 tablet once a day, before bedtime.
Contraindications: do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
