An active principle of Mestinon tablets is pyridostigmine bromide. It suppresses the decomposition of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine and helps muscle contraction by having the same effect as acetylcholine. Also, this medicine works as cholinesterase inhibitor, stopping the excessive activity of cholinesterase. As the result, Mestinon tablets effectively decrease muscle weakness in patient with myasthenia gravis.
Mestinon tablets can be used for the elderly patients without particular cautions. Clinical studies showed this medicine improves reaction time on tests of memory and attention Also, Mestinon tablets can be used for children; however, the dosage should be prescribed by the consulting pediatrician.

How to take
Adults should take 1 tablet 3 times a day. Your doctor can be adjust the dosage according to your age and symptoms.
For children, the dosage should be prescribed by your pediatrician according to age, weight and symptoms.
Contraindications: do not use for the following categories of patients:
- pregnant and breastfeeding women,
- patients with gastrointestinal or urethral obstruction,
- patients with parasympathicotonia,
- patients with bronchial asthma,
- patients with bradycardia,
- patients with peptic ulcer,
- patients with epilepsy,
- patients with Parkinsonism.
