What are Linzess tablets 0.25 mg for constipation (linaclotide, Constella)?
An active principle of Linzess tablets is linaclotide, a synthetic tetradecapeptide that mimics endogenous guanylin or uroguanylin. It works by affecting the guanylate-cyclase C receptor at the surface of intestinal epithelium. Linzess tablets increase water secretion, affect colonic sensory neurons and decrease abdominal pain. By activating colonic motor neurons, this medicine promotes smoother muscle contraction and eases defecation.
Linzess tablets are effective for the treatment of chronic constipation of various genesis and irritated intestinal syndrome. Linaclotide is a safe, effective and well-tolerated medication.
