Levothyroxine Na tablets (THYRADIN-S) 50 mcg for thyroid hormone therapy
What are Levothyroxine Na (Thyradin S) tablets 50 mcg for thyroid hormone therapy?
An active principle of Levothyroxine Na tablets is levothyroxine sodium hydrate, a sodium salt form of levothyroxine. It is a synthetic isomer, similar to the hormone produced by the thyroid glands. Levothyroxine binds to the thyroid receptor proteins in cells, controls DNA transcription and protein production and provides normalization of metabolism.
Levothyroxine Na tablets are effective for the treatment of hypothyroidism. They help to treat acute symptoms such as skin swelling and seizures and reduce thyroid-stimulating hormone levels, which can cause goiter. Levothyroxine Na tablets are suitable for the long-term hormone replacement therapy. For patients suffering from thyroid cancer or nodular thyroid disease, levothyroxine can be prescribed for interventional therapy to suppress thyroid-stimulating hormone production.
