What are Kanamycin sulfate injections 1000 mg (antibiotic injections)?
Kanamycin is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic, was first synthesized in Japan. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Kanamycin sulfate injections are effective against many bacteria strains including E.coli, Proteus species (both Indole positive and Negative), Klebsiella pneumoniae and Serratia marcescens. This medicine is used for the treatment of various of bacterial infections such as skin infections, secondary infections and otitis media. Kanamycin Sulfate injections may be combined with other antibiotics like penicillin-type and cephalosporin type. For the treatment of tuberculosis and other tuberculous conditions it is usually used in combination with other antituberculotic drugs.

Indications: treatment of various bacterial infections, including following:
- superficial and deeper skin infections,
- lymphangitis and lymphadenitis
- secondary infection due to trauma, burn, or surgical wounds,
- mastitis,
- osteomyelitis,
- tonsillitis,
- acute bronchitis and pneumonia,
- secondary infection in chronic respiratory disease,
- cystitis,
- pyelonephritis,
- gonococcal infection,
- uterine adnexitis,
- otitis media,
- pulmonary tuberculosis, and other tuberculous conditions.
How to use
For tuberculosis: intramuscularly, 2 times a day twice a week or 1 time a day 3 times a week. Kanamycin sulfate should be used in combination with other antituberculotic drugs.
For other indications: intramuscularly for a period of no more than 7-10 days. The dosage is to be prescribed by your doctor.
Contraindications: do not use for pregnant and breastfeeding women, patients with hearing loss or deafness in the family, patients with kidney disorders, with myasthenia gravis and patients in poor general health.
