Eszopiclone tablets 2 mg for insomnia (Eszop, Lunesta)
What are Eszopiclone tablets 2 mg for insomnia?
Eszopiclone is a medication prescribed to manage insomnia, a common sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. It belongs to the class of drugs known as non-benzodiazepine hypnotics, which act on the central nervous system to promote sleep. Eszopiclone's mechanism of action involves targeting specific receptors in the brain to facilitate the onset and maintenance of sleep.
Eszopiclone primarily interacts with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the central nervous system. GABA is a neurotransmitter that inhibits brain activity, leading to relaxation and sedation. Eszopiclone enhances the effects of GABA by binding to GABA-A receptors, which results in a decrease in neuronal activity and a calming effect on the brain. This reduced neural activity helps individuals with insomnia initiate sleep more easily and maintain it throughout the night.
The effectiveness of Eszopiclone in treating insomnia is well-documented in clinical trials. When used as directed, Eszopiclone has been shown to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep and increase the total duration of sleep.
