What are Cefalexin tablets 250 mg for bacterial infections?
Cefalexin tablets are effective for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including middle ear, bone and joint, skin, respiratory and urinary tract infections. Their active principle is a beta-lactam antibiotic of the cephalosporin family, inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall. Cefalexin tablets are effective against gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria.
Adults and children over 20 kg of weight can take Cefalexin tablets. More than 90% of antibiotic will be excreted with urine unchanged within 8 hours. Also, this antibiotic is often used for patients with penicillin intolerance as it has similar spectrum of activity but significantly less probability of allergic reaction.

Indications: Cefalexin tablets are effective for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including following:
- Otolaryngologic infections (middle ear infections, otitis media) are the most common prescription purpose of Cefalexin tablets,
- Skin infections,
- Respiratory infections, including pharyngitis and pneumonia,
- Bone and joint infections,
- Urinary tract infections.
How to take
For adults and children over 20 kg of body weight: take 1 tablet (250 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, every 6 hours. If symptoms are severe, the dosage may be increased to 2 tablets (500 mg) at a time, every 6 hours. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to disease, age, weight and symptoms of the patient.
Contraindications: do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
