What are Belsomra tablets for insomnia?
Belsomra tablets contain suvorexant, an inhibitor of the action of orexins, neurotransmitters affecting brain neurons responsible for the wakefulness process. Suvorexant reduces the time to sleep onset and increases total sleep time. Belsomra tablets provide the following effects:
- help the patient to get asleep significantly faster,
- prolongate the total time of the sleep,
- improve depressed mood,
- reduce daytime sleepiness,
- reduce psychological stress caused by insomnia.
Belsomra tablets are generally well tolerated and have few side effects.

How to take
Adults should take 1 tablet right before bedtime. The doctor in charge may reduce the dosage to 0.5 tablet at a time depending on age and symptoms.
Contraindications: Do not use it for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not take the medicine with food or immediately after a meal. Do not drive a car, work on heights or operate machinery after using the medicine.
Important information
As this medicine causes rapid drowsiness, the patient should never drive a car, operate dangerous machinery or work at heights after taking this medicine. It is not recommended to use Belsomra tablets for patients who plan to sleep less than 6-8 hours.
If an allergic reaction occurs, patients needs to stop using the medicine and consult with their doctor. If patient is taking any other medication or treatment, they should consult with their doctor in advance.
