What are Amlodipine tablets?
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker medication. By reducing calcium influx into the cells, Amlodipine tablets effectively and rapidly relaxe the smooth muscle of coronary and peripheral blood vessels. Thus, the drug lowers blood pressure and reduces the likelihood of an angina attack. That is why it is commonly used to treat hypertension and angina pectoris.

How to take
For blood pressure (arterial hypertension): adults should take 0.5-1 tablet (2.5-5 mg of amlodipine) once daily. Your doctor may increase the dosage to 2 tablets (10 mg) once a day, if needed. Children of 6-15 years should take 0.5 tablets (2.5 mg) once daily. Your doctor can always adjust the dosage depending on your age, weight, and symptoms. For angina prevention: Generally, adults take 1 tablet (5 mg as amlodipine) once daily, but your doctor can adjust the dosage according to symptoms.
Contraindications: Do not use for pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with hypotension, hepatic or renal dysfunction.
Important information
- As this medicine may cause dizziness due to rapid blood pressure decrease, you should pay close attention when you work at heights, drive a car or operate dangerous machinery.
- Do not take grapefruit juice while taking this medicine as it may intensify the medical effect.
- If an allergic reaction occurs, patients needs to stop taking the medicine and consult with their doctor.
- If patient is taking any other medication or treatment, they should consult with their doctor in advance.
